Turkish Foreign Ministry urges Ukraine to accept the loss of territories
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on Ukraine to make a difficult choice and accept the loss of territories. His words were reported in the Turkish newspaper Yeni Şafak on December 12.
"For the sake of preventing large losses and for the benefit of the future, it is necessary to make difficult choices. I understand how hard it is for them. This is especially the issue of territories," Fidan said.
He also noted that Ukraine has a lot of very difficult choices to make, and recalled Turkey's readiness to become a platform for negotiations.
"Istanbul is ready to host the negotiations again. Last summer, the city already hosted rounds three times, which led to serious progress on prisoner exchanges and other humanitarian issues," the minister suggested.
Zelensky said on December 8 that the points that Ukraine considered controversial were excluded from the settlement plan proposed by the United States, leaving 20 points out of 28. He believes that at the moment there is no compromise on the issue of territories.
At the same time, on December 10, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the US positions on Ukraine's membership in NATO and the issue of territories are consonant with Russia.
