Bloomberg estimated the cost of creating the Golden Dome missile defense system
The total cost of creating the Golden Dome missile defense system will be approximately $1.1 trillion instead of $175 billion, as previously assured by US President Donald Trump. This was reported on December 12 by Bloomberg, citing its own calculations.
"The cost of the Golden Dome system will be about $ 1.1 trillion, which is more than 500% higher than Trump's estimate of $175 billion," the publication says.
It is noted that the grouping of space interceptors needed for the system alone is estimated at $161-542 billion.
Experts also called the stated deadlines for the project's commissioning unrealistic. Earlier, Trump announced that the Golden Dome would be created by 2029.
"The name, concept, and program of the Golden Dome probably won't survive the current administration," Todd Harrison, a senior defense researcher at the American Enterprise Institute, summed up.
On November 4, Bloomberg, citing information from the American space forces, reported that the United States was close to deploying two new types of weapons designed to jam Russian and Chinese satellites. It was specified that the new weapons would be deployed around the world. They can be controlled remotely.
Earlier, on September 17, General of the Space Forces Michael Guetlein, who heads the process of creating the Golden Dome missile defense system in the United States, announced the completion of the project. In May, Trump declared that the "Golden Dome" is necessary for the United States to survive. According to Trump, the country's administration plans to allocate about $175 billion for it.
