Maduro spoke about the conversation with Putin and called him his brother.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro spoke about the details of a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported on December 11 on the air of the Venezolana de Televisión TV channel.
Maduro noted that the conversation was "lengthy" and took place in a warm atmosphere. According to him, Putin expressed admiration for the resilience of the country's residents and "strongly supported Venezuela's efforts to protect sovereignty and peace in the region." The Venezuelan leader stressed that he considers the Russian president to be a "big brother" and that relations between the two countries are strategically important.
According to TASS, at the end of November, 19 new agreements in the fields of science, technology, industry, agriculture and energy were signed in Moscow as part of a meeting of the intergovernmental commission. The next meeting of the commission is scheduled for 2026 and will be held in Caracas.
Maduro added that the historical ties between Russia and Venezuela "go back more than two centuries," and the era of friendship, which began with the meeting of Vladimir Putin and Hugo Chavez 25 years ago, "made the countries united forever."
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Vladimir Putin confirmed his support for the Venezuelan government's course. The leaders discussed the development of partnership and plans for the implementation of joint projects in the economic, energy and humanitarian spheres.
