Alexander Ovechkin, the Russian forward of the Washington Capitals hockey club, scored a total of 1.8 thousand points during the regular championships and the National Hockey League (NHL) playoffs on December 12.

To achieve this record, the athlete was helped by an assist in the NHL regular season match against Carolina, as well as assisting teammate Connor McMichael, who scored a goal in the fifth minute of the game.

"Now the 40-year-old Russian has 1,8 thousand points for his NHL career, taking into account regular championships and playoffs. In the regular season, he scored 1,653 (911+742) points in 1,522 matches, and in the playoffs - 147 (77+70) points in 161 games," notes Sport—Express.
