The Frunzensky District Court of Vladivostok sentenced fishing industrialist Oleg Kan in absentia to 24 years in a high-security penal colony, imposed a fine of 5 million rubles, banned him from holding positions in the fishing industry and ordered the confiscation of over 4 billion rubles and seized real estate. This became known on December 12.

"To collect 4.2 billion rubles from Kan O.K. in state revenue," the judge announced the decision.

It is reported that Kang was put on the international wanted list and the term of punishment will begin to be calculated after his actual detention.

The court also clarified that the verdict can be appealed within 15 days.

It became known on November 25 that the court did not terminate Kang's criminal case on smuggling, despite statements by the businessman's lawyers about his death.

Earlier, on November 10, Kang's lawyer petitioned the court to dismiss the criminal case on the creation of a criminal community and the smuggling of live crab worth over 2.6 billion rubles in connection with the death of his client. In addition, Kang's defense presented to the court a written statement from businessman Ahn Soon-ja's sister stating that she agrees to terminate the criminal case, which is necessary in the event of the death of the "crab king."

In March, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation approved a decision to recover 358.7 billion rubles left by Oleg Kan, the "crab king" who left Russia. In April 2024, the Primorsky Regional Court sentenced Kang to 17 years in a high-security penal colony for organizing the murder of a businessman in Vladivostok in 2010. The convicted businessman escaped from the investigation and is on the international wanted list, the court in absentia chose a preventive measure in the form of detention.

Later, on June 7, it was reported that in order to repay the total debt of 358.7 billion rubles, the court recovered two houses and four land plots from the son of businessman Alexander. In addition, according to the documents, the son of the "crab king" has eight cars and 40 units of real estate worth a total of 299 million rubles. Currently, Alexander Kahn's debt to the state is approximately 337 billion rubles.
