The political scientist spoke about the importance of the liberation of Seversk for Russia

The liberation by the Russian Armed Forces of the city of Seversk in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) is of great importance to the Russian Federation — politically, ideologically and symbolically. Political scientist Alexey Yaroshenko told Izvestia about this on December 11.

"It should be clear to all the "hawks" in the West and on the remnants of the Ukrainian regime that the Russian Federation will not be able to be persuaded to unfavorable conditions for it. And Russia will achieve its goals, eliminate the root causes of the conflict, it has military forces for this, and it showed this by liberating Seversk," the expert noted.

He noted that the city's population had been waiting for liberation from the Kiev regime for several years. Currently, civilians are celebrating this event.

"After three decades of wandering, they returned home to their native harbor, to Russia," Yaroshenko said.

Experts believe that the most combat-ready units of the Ukrainian army, which cannot be replaced, fall into the "boilers".

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had been informed about the liberation of Seversk at a meeting on the situation in the SVR zone. He said that the meeting was attended by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Sergei Medvedev, Commander of the Southern Group of Troops, and Denis Pirogov, commander of the 123rd Motorized Rifle Brigade.

In late November, Putin reported that the Russian army had surrounded Seversk from three sides. At the same time, the President stressed that the collapse of the front was inevitable for Ukraine if the situation in Kupyansk, whose liberation became known on November 20, was repeated in other sectors of the front.
