Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin opened a new skating rink with immersive installations at Luzhniki Stadium on Thursday, December 11.

He noted that the first stage of landscaping has been completed: on the site of the former concrete site there is now a large body of water, which in winter turns into an ice rink surrounded by cafes, rental and recreation areas. The mayor expressed hope that the playground will become a popular winter leisure destination.

The skating rink with an area of 16.5 thousand square meters is one of the largest in the capital and can accommodate up to 3 thousand people at a time. Its main decoration is a 16-meter-high media tree, and the facade of the Large Sports Arena turns into a multimedia show in the evening. Rental, heating and children's areas are located nearby, according to the Moscow City News Agency.

In spring, the skating rink will become a fountain with a mirrored surface — more than 3.2 thousand square meters. m. The space is equipped with light and sound effects, and in summer recreation areas will be placed around.

The next stages of landscaping are planned until 2027: the walking alley around the arena will be renovated, new sports areas, a skate park, streetball courts will be built, the embankment will be put in order and themed children's spaces will be created, Moscow 24 notes.

On December 4, the governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, told how many skating rinks will be opened in the parks of the Moscow region in 2025. According to him, since December 1, visitors have access to ice rinks with artificial ice and rental equipment. In total, more than 40 such sites will be opened in 2025. 360.ru .
