The expert explained that the freshness of the Christmas tree can be determined independently by several signs. It is important to look at the section of the trunk: the light color indicates a recent harvest. It is also worth checking the elasticity of the branches and needles — dry and brittle branches indicate poor quality.

She added that it is useful to lightly hit the trunk on the ground: if the needles almost do not crumble, and the branches remain elastic, the tree is fresh. Another indicator is the fragrance that can be felt by rubbing the needles. Khrenova also noted that dull needles with a grayish tinge most often indicate that the tree was cut down a long time ago.
