The government announced an increase in the share of national currencies in payments within the EAEU to 93%

The share of national currencies in settlements within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is up to 93%. This was announced on December 11 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during an expanded meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of the EAEU.

"The share of national currencies in payments within the Union has reached 93%. And the share of foreign trade contracts between Russian businesses and entrepreneurs from other five countries has exceeded 98%," the head of government noted.

Mishustin noted that the preliminary results of the EAEU's work on key indicators in 2025 are decent. There is also a growing interest in expanding trade with countries that are not members of the union.

"We continue to strengthen transport connectivity in the Eurasian region. It is extremely important to accelerate the implementation of modern solutions, primarily for the modernization of logistics infrastructure and digitalization of transport corridors. To increase the capacity of existing routes, of course, as a result, it means to increase the volume of cargo transportation," he added.

Following talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 5, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Moscow and New Delhi were working on an agreement on India's free trade area with the Eurasian Economic Union. He noted that the share of Russian and Indian commercial transactions in the national currency is 96%. The parties are actively developing new international transport and logistics routes, as well as expanding the infrastructure of the Transarctic Transport Corridor using the Northern Sea Route.
