A criminal case has been opened in the Volgograd region on the fact of a gas explosion in an apartment building in the city of Petrov Val. This was reported on December 11 in the regional department of the Investigative Committee (IC).

"As a result of the incident, there are victims, their exact number is being determined. All of them received various injuries and were taken to the Kamyshinsky central district hospital," the ministry said in a statement.

According to the investigation, domestic gas was depressurized in one of the apartments on Lenin Street, which led to a pop and partial collapse of the inter-apartment ceilings. No one was living in the apartment at the time of the incident. The neighbors, who opened the room with a spare key, were hit by a gas explosion and were injured.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet safety requirements"). An investigative and operational group is working on the spot, examinations are being conducted to establish the causes and circumstances of the incident.
