MAMT is preparing for the opening of the season of performances of "The Nutcracker"

One of the country's leading musical theaters is actively preparing for the annual marathon of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker ballet. It will take place on the stage of the Moscow Academic Musical Theater. Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko (MAMT) in a neoclassical production by Yuri Posokhov. Posokhov's version will return the viewer to the literary source — the fairy tale of the German Romantic writer Ernst Theodor Amadeus Hoffmann.

"Yuri Posokhov's The Nutcracker occupies a special place in the New Year's playbill of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Musical Theater — it has long been its flagship production, which the audience has been waiting for all year. A sought-after and beloved performance, supported by the Moscow City Department of Culture, it rightfully bears the title of the capital's main "Nutcracker." During the holidays, the theater will open its doors to all generations of Muscovites and guests of the city, giving an atmosphere of unity, the joy of meeting wonderful music and artists," said Andrey Borisov, General Director of the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich—Danchenko Moscow Academic Musical Theater.

Prima ballerinas, premieres, leading soloists and soloists of MAMT will appear on stage in the main roles: Natalia Somova, Oksana Kardash, Erika Mikirticheva, Anastasia Limenko, Elena Solomyanko, Denis Dmitriev, Ivan Mikhalev, Innokenty Yuldashev and other artists.

A special place in the play is given to the image of Drosselmeyer. On December 21, Maxim Sevagin, the artistic director of the ballet company, will perform this part for the first time since the premiere.

The MAMT orchestra and children's choir are involved in the performance. Arif Dadashev, Roman Kaloshin, Fyodor Beznosikov and conductor Ivan Nikiforchin will be at the conductor's desk.

In total, MAMT will show 22 performances of "The Nutcracker" from December 20 to January 4.

On December 17, performances of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's ballet "The Nutcracker" will begin on the Historical Stage of the GABTA. Denis Rodkin, the premier of the Bolshoi Theatre, will appear in the role of the Prince in several performances.
