Irkutsk is developing an educational program "School of Reproductive Health". The initiative is being implemented as part of the project "Increasing fertility in Irkutsk".

According to IA IrkutskMedia, the first meeting of the working group on this project of the city administration was held at the scientific center for Family Health and human reproduction. It aims to raise awareness among school students about the preservation and promotion of reproductive health. Doctors and parents were involved in the development of the project.

According to Olga Bugun, deputy director of the center and chief physician of the clinic, the center's specialists have extensive experience in this field, and for many years doctors have been conducting educational lectures for students. Schools are actively requesting such meetings, which indicates a high demand for educational programs among teenagers and their parents.

The program will include educational events for parents, social advertising and information through the media, the agency notes.

Earlier, a group of deputies of the legislative assembly of the Irkutsk region proposed a legislative ban on inducing artificial termination of pregnancy. The draft law was considered at a meeting of the Committee on Health and Social Protection.

In mid-October, it was reported that social activists proposed to legislate responsibility for inducing pregnant women to have an abortion. Natalia Moskvitina, founder and CEO of the Women for Life Foundation and a member of the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation, told Izvestia that currently 25 regions have adopted a regional law that protects women from being induced to have an abortion. According to Moskvitina, it was unanimously decided to propose a regional law as a draft federal law.
