The arrest of Alexander Butyagin, a scientist from the Russian Federation and an employee of the Hermitage Museum in Poland, may be extended. Andrei Ordash, Charge d'affaires of Russia in Poland, informed Izvestia about this on December 11.

The diplomats are in constant contact with Butyagin, as well as with his lawyer and the Warsaw District Prosecutor's Office, he said.

"He was detained for a period of 40 days (may be extended), during which a decision on extradition to Ukraine may be made. The Polish side has appointed a lawyer for him," Ordash said.
