Russians were told about interesting destinations in Jordan
Starting from December 13, 2025, a visa-free regime with Jordan will come into force for Russian citizens, which, according to forecasts, can significantly increase the interest of Russian tourists in this country. According to the new rules, it will be possible to stay in the kingdom for up to 30 days per trip, but no more than 90 days during a calendar year. The agreement applies exclusively to tourist purposes and does not grant the right to work or study without a visa. On December 13, Izvestia was told about the country's interest in the OneTwoTrip travel planning service.
"Royal Jordanian Airlines operates direct flights to the country's capital, Amman, from Moscow on Fridays and Sundays. The flight takes about 5 hours and 15 minutes, and the minimum price of a one-way ticket starts from 35 thousand rubles. Accommodation in the country is offered for any budget: from guest houses to five—star hotels, while a room in a three-star Amman hotel with a high rating can be found for an average of 4 thousand rubles per day," the company noted.
It is logical to start exploring the country from its modern and dynamic capital, which is conventionally divided into a conservative eastern part and a comfortable western part, where hotels, cafes and art galleries are concentrated. The main historical sights of Amman, including the ruins of the temple of Hercules of the II century AD, the Byzantine Basilica and the amphitheater for 6 thousand spectators, are located in the Citadel on Jabal al-Qalaa hill. Tourists should also visit the traditional Souk Bazaar, the Hussein Mosque and the Royal Automobile Museum.
240 km south of the capital is Jordan's main tourist gem, the ancient city of Petra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The way to it lies through the picturesque kilometer-long Sik gorge with stone walls up to 80 m high, and at the exit it offers a view of the famous treasury of El Khazneh. The city, founded by the Nabataeans in the 4th century BC, impresses not only with its architecture, but also with its unique ancient water supply system.
"No less impressive is the rocky desert of Wadi Rum in the south of the country, whose alien landscape with mountains, canyons and stone arches served as a backdrop for the filming of the films The Martian and Star Wars. Tourists are offered guided tours, trekking, camel riding and hot air balloons. 65 km from Amman is the Dead Sea, the saltiest body of water on the planet, known for its healing properties. The coastline in Jordan is a quiet resort area with hotel complexes," the experts shared.
A 40—minute drive from the capital is the city of Jarash, one of the most preserved Roman cities outside Italy, where you can see the colonnade street, the ancient theater and the temple of Artemis. According to experts, the opening of a visa-free regime makes Jordan a much more accessible and attractive destination for Russian travelers who want to explore the rich historical heritage and unique nature of the Middle East.
Artur Muradian, Vice President of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) and CEO of the Space Travel tour operator, said on September 2 that the introduction of a visa-free regime for Russians in China would lead to an increase in tourist traffic from Russia by 30-40%.
