An explosion occurred at a hydrodynamic stand at Perm Polytechnic University, as a result of which a man and a child were killed, and several more people were injured. What is known about the explosion at the university

It is reported that the incident occurred in the laboratory of Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) on Akademika Koroleva Street. According to preliminary information, a turbine wheel collapsed during product testing at a stand with scientific equipment in a separate building of the PNRPU complex. Fragments of the wheel penetrated the protective structures.

The PNRPU press service reported that two people died as a result of the incident - a man, the head of the enterprise that produced the sample and who is not an employee of the educational institution, and his minor daughter. It is noted that a check is currently underway to determine why the child was in a room with equipment in violation of safety requirements.

Three people were also injured — representatives of one of the Perm enterprises that do not work at the university. The men, aged 64 and 37, are in a stable condition of moderate severity, and another victim refused to be hospitalized. All the injured received the necessary medical care.

In addition, the Ministry of Territorial Security of the Perm Region indicates that the preliminary reason was a violation of the technological process, which caused the test machine to come off the hydrodynamic stand.
