Canadian Rafael Richet joined the coaching staff of the KHL club Avangard

Omsk hockey club (HC) Avangard has signed a contract with Canadian coach Rafael Richet until 2027. This was announced on December 11 by the club's press service.

"We are glad to welcome a Canadian specialist to our headquarters. <...> The coach is already in Omsk and will begin his work with the team in the coming days," reads a statement on the HC website.

Richet was a member of the coaching staff of Traktor Chelyabinsk in 2024. He led the team to the Gagarin Cup. The Canadian left the post of acting head coach of the Chelyabinsk club on December 8.

Avangard defeated Spartak Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) regular season match on December 7. The match was held in Omsk. The meeting ended with a score 7:5 (5:2, 1:1, 1:2) in favor of the owners of the ice.

Avangard is in third place in the Eastern Conference standings with 45 points, while Spartak is in sixth position in the West with 40 points.
