Shoigu thanked Laos for its balanced position on the Ukrainian crisis

Russia appreciates Laos' continued solidarity on fundamentally international issues. This was stated on December 11 by Secretary of the Russian Federation's Security Council Sergei Shoigu at a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos Vilai Lakhamphong.

"You demonstrate a balanced, rational position regarding the Ukrainian crisis, understanding the root causes of the special military operation," Shoigu said.

Of particular importance to Russia is the truly brotherly assistance of Laos in the rehabilitation of wounded Russian soldiers, he added.

"Medical and sanatorium institutions in your country accept Russian military personnel free of charge. We are grateful to you for this. In turn, we continue our important humanitarian mission to clear the Lao territory. Its eighth stage started in November. During the previous one, Russian sappers found and neutralized over 330 explosive objects on 18 hectares," Shoigu said.

Shoigu is on a visit to Laos from December 10-12, where he plans to hold talks with the country's leadership and heads of law enforcement agencies.
