Residents of Germany, France and the United Kingdom consider the political activities of US President Donald Trump to be more important and significant than the work of their leaders. This was reported on December 11 by the Politico newspaper with reference to the relevant survey.

"The study showed that in Germany and the UK, more than half of respondents consider Trump's election even more important than the election of their own leaders, despite the fact that both [German Chancellor Friedrich] Merz and [British Prime Minister Keir] Starmer came to power relatively recently," the publication says.

It is noted that more than 10.5 thousand respondents over the age of 18 participated in the study. The survey was conducted from December 5 to December 9.

"In the UK, 54% of respondents said that Trump's return to power was a more significant event than the coming to power of Starmer's Labour Party and the end of the Conservatives' 14-year rule," the poll showed.

At the same time, only 28% of Britons considered the change of government in their own country to be a more important event.

On December 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump entered the top 5 ranking of the most influential leaders in Europe according to Politico. The newspaper positions the rating as a list of people who "determined Europe's policy and strategy for the next year." There are 28 positions in the list. Trump topped this rating, while Putin was ranked fifth by the Politico editorial board.
