The Mirror reported on the disclosure of a family secret by Jack the Ripper's great-granddaughter.

A British resident has revealed details of her unusual family history related to the cases of a legendary serial killer from London. This was reported on December 8 by the Mirror newspaper.

69-year-old Susan Clapp turned out to be the great-great-granddaughter of Charles Allen Lechmer, one of the suspects in the Jack the Ripper case. Lechmer discovered the body of one of the victims, Elizabeth Stride, in Whitechapel in 1888.

"Everything points to him, but no one knew," the newspaper quoted Susan as saying.

Jack the Ripper's fourth victim, Elizabeth Stride, is reportedly buried near the grave of Susan's mother, Maisie Lechmer, in an East London cemetery.

Clapp admitted that she regularly visits the cemetery and prays at Elizabeth's grave.

"Every time I go to my mom, I visit Elizabeth's grave and say a little prayer," she said.

The publication noted that Susan's family had long been unaware of Lechmer's involvement in the series of murders.

"No one knew. I was very shocked when I found out about it. It was very strange to think that the family could have one of the biggest serial killers in the world," she added.

According to Clapp, quoted by the newspaper, Charles Lechmer knew how to work with knives from childhood, as he helped his mother in the family horse meat processing business, and his route to work passed by the sites of all five murders in the early morning hours.

It is reported that the great-great-granddaughter of Charles Lechmer is trying to come to terms with the past of her ancestor and honor the memory of the victims of the Ripper, while recognizing that part of the family prefers not to remember it.
