- The engineering troops of the Russian Federation drilled wells to provide water to the residents of the DPR
Servicemen of the engineering troops of the Armed Forces of Russia drilled wells to provide water to residents of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced on December 11 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
"The issue of water supply for residents of the DPR is very acute, a combined group of engineering troops consisting of 17 mobile drilling rig crews (PBU-100) was formed to help the population," the department said.
As noted by Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Bezrukov, after creating a well, water is drawn from it for suitability analysis. If a positive result is obtained and the water meets the requirements, the well is started by the company "Water of Donbass".
Five districts of the DPR have been identified to carry out the relevant work.
"When military engineers arrive in the designated area, they use special equipment to determine the drilling site, carry out all necessary priority work, and use a compressor unit to raise groundwater to the surface," the Defense Ministry explained the process.
After the completion of the work and the suitability analysis, it becomes possible to supply water to the civilian population.
On October 24, the head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, announced that the lifting of the water blockade of the region was approaching due to the successes of Russian troops in the Krasnolimansk direction.
At a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on August 4, Pushilin called the provision of water to the DPR the most difficult issue. It was clarified that last year a headquarters for heat and water supply was established, thanks to which the heating seasons passed without additional accidents.
