Experts called the chaotic media consumption the main trend of 2025

The Association of Consulting Companies in the Field of Public Relations (AKOS), the PR News research company, the center for the development of new media "Together Media" and the PR-Consulta communication agency presented a study on media trends in 2025. I got acquainted with his results "Газета.Ru ".

"The chaotic nature of media consumption means that the audience is dispersed across dozens of sources, platforms, and personal channels, consumption becomes impulsive, and competition for attention is unprecedented," the publication says.

According to the report, randomization has become the main trend (54%). It is followed by a crisis of trust and quality (51%), stricter control and legalization of the media environment (48%), increased self-censorship (46%) and the daily use of artificial intelligence (45%). The study also records an increase in disinformation, deepfakes, and clickbait.

"Technologically, it has become easier than ever to produce content, but it is becoming increasingly difficult to trust it," the publication says.

Experts note that media regulation is becoming the new norm and increasing the legal requirements for content producers. Self-censorship is becoming a sustainable editorial practice, which affects the diversity of topics and reduces the proportion of complex materials.

The routine use of artificial intelligence, which is perceived as a working tool that accelerates processes, is emphasized separately. Professional experience also affects the perception of trends: young professionals are more likely to focus on AI and new formats, while experts with more than 16 years of experience identify systemic challenges such as environmental chaos, control, and a crisis of trust.
