The Ministry of Education warned about the appearance of fake channels on behalf of the department

Fraudsters began to create fake channels in messengers allegedly on behalf of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in order to collect personal data, spread false information and financial fraud. This became known on December 10.

"The Ministry of Education of Russia warns citizens, teachers, students and their parents about the appearance of numerous fake channels and chat rooms in messengers that pose as official sources of the Ministry. These resources are created to obtain confidential information, spread false information and commit financial fraud," RIA Novosti quoted the agency as saying.

The Ministry recommended that school leaders and teachers exercise increased vigilance, as fake materials may allegedly come in the form of letters and orders from the leadership of educational organizations or regional departments.

"Official orders are published exclusively through established communication channels and on the ministry's official website," the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation noted, adding that for reliable information, one should contact only official sources of the department.
