Kirsty Coventry, Head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), noted that the experience of allowing Russian athletes to participate in the Olympic Games has been successful. She stated this on December 10, answering questions from journalists after a meeting of the IOC Executive Committee.

"The process that took place before Paris (the 2024 Summer Olympics — ed.) was successful. And we're using exactly the same process now. If you have new information, you can provide it, we have James McLeod (director of the IOC Department for Relations with the National Olympic Committees — ed.), we will consider it," Coventry said in response to a question from a Ukrainian journalist.

According to RIA Novosti, the final decision will be made by the working group.

Earlier, on November 18, Coventry stated that sport should remain a neutral territory where athletes can compete without political interference. She stressed that all participants should have equal access to competitions and that the Olympic movement is based on the principle of equality, regardless of the geographical location of the countries.
