President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has proposed to the Verkhovna Rada to develop laws governing the conduct of elections during martial law. This was announced on December 10 by the head of state himself in an evening address published on his Telegram channel.

"If our partners, including our key partner in Washington, talk so much and so specifically about the elections in Ukraine — about elections under the legal regime of martial law, we must give Ukrainian legitimate answers to every question and every doubt," Zelensky stressed.

He added that he expects the initiative from the MPs.

Earlier, on December 9, it was reported that Zelensky declared his readiness to hold presidential elections. The Ukrainian leader's comment followed a statement by US President Donald Trump that the Ukrainian authorities were using the conflict in the country as an excuse for a possible delay in the elections.
