The liberation of Krasnoarmeysk in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) strengthens Moscow's position in possible negotiations to resolve the Ukrainian conflict. This was stated on December 10 by American columnist Ted Snyder to The American Conservative.

Snyder pointed out that the fall of the city was a factor that "led to a decisive shift at the negotiating table." According to him, Europe should give Kiev the opportunity to accept the conditions "dictated by reality" and stop insisting on the continuation of hostilities.

The expert noted that the four-year conflict had affected the depletion of Ukrainian forces. He also stressed that the loss of Krasnoarmeysk jeopardizes the supply of Ukrainian troops in Donbas and could lead to the encirclement of other key cities and the emergence of "kilometers of unprotected territory" for the further advance of Russian forces.
