Doctor Salaeva assessed the impact of chronic stress on health
Gunai Salayeva, a reproductive therapist, obstetrician-gynecologist with 15 years of experience, founder of the School of Reproductive Health "Becoming a Mother", told how chronic stress affects women's health. In an interview with Radio 1 on Wednesday, December 10, the expert explained that one-time experiences are not dangerous, but constant stress causes a direct blow to the main reproductive axis of the body.
She noted that it all starts with stress.: with chronic stress, cortisol levels rise, which leads to disruptions in the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian axis. As a result, the rhythm of key hormone production is disrupted, the ovaries receive incorrect signals and reduce the production of estradiol and progesterone, which can lead to an irregular cycle and a lack of ovulation.
According to her, at such moments, the brain deliberately "turns off" the reproductive function, believing that the body is unable to bear a child and must focus on survival.
The specialist emphasized that this condition is reversible. If stress infertility is suspected, the doctor prescribes tests for TSH, cortisol (in daily urine or saliva) and prolactin. She added that treatment requires a comprehensive approach: medications help to adjust the hormonal background, but to eliminate the underlying cause — chronic stress — it is often necessary to work with a psychotherapist.
Earlier on December 10, neurologist, PhD Victor Koss told the website kp.ru that walking before going to bed helps in stress prevention. According to him, a 20-30-minute walk normalizes the rhythm of the brain, switches it to a calm, direct wave. Walking at a walking pace promotes deeper sleep and better rest, writes RT.
On December 8, it was reported that stress and a bad mood can worsen heart health. Such conclusions were made by Chinese scientists based on the results of the study.
On December 4, nutritionist Lyudmila Denisenko noted that only 20-30 grams of chocolate a day help to cope with stress. So, it is especially important to pay attention to products that support the nervous system. Herbal teas help reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality, reports 360.ru .
On December 1, Pavel Zhavnerov, an anxiety psychologist, told NSN that if stress begins to affect not only a person's emotional state, but also their physical state, they should contact a psychologist.
