Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated two Russian regiments on being awarded the honorary titles of "Guards" — the 299th Parachute Regiment and the 44th Engineer Sapper Regiment were awarded them. The telegrams were published on December 10 on the Kremlin's website.
Addressing the command and personnel of both regiments, the Head of state noted that the honorary name "Guards" is a recognition of the special merits of their soldiers.
"The skillful and decisive actions of the regiment's personnel during a special military operation are an example of military duty, bravery, dedication and high professionalism," the message of greetings reads.
The President also wished the military good health and success.
Prior to that, on November 19, the President of the Russian Federation awarded the honorary name "Guards" to the 255th Motorized Rifle Regiment. It was noted that the name was given for the mass heroism and bravery of the regiment, as well as for perseverance in carrying out combat missions.
On November 1, the Russian leader congratulated the servicemen of the 127th Intelligence Brigade on being awarded the honorary name "Guards". He also noted that receiving this status is a high honor and recognition of the exceptional merits of the brigade.
