Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin met with Moscow schoolchildren, winners and prize—winners of international Olympiads. Teenagers participated in intellectual competitions in Australia, Bolivia, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, France and the Philippines.

"These young people are the future of Moscow and the whole country," Sobyanin wrote on his Twitter feed. He noted that throughout the year he had been following the performances of schoolchildren and "admired their talents, perseverance and willpower."

As part of the national team, Muscovites won 28 medals, 22 of them gold, bringing 64% of the awards to the Russian national team. At competitions in chemistry, computer science, geography and astronomy, the capital's schoolchildren won all the gold in the country's team, Sobyanin stressed.

The Mayor of Moscow reminded that the winners and prize-winners of international Olympiads can enroll in any Russian university without exams. In addition, they receive encouragement from the federation and separately from Moscow.

In November, Russian schoolchildren won six medals at the Chinese National Mathematics Olympiad, which was held in Taiyuan. On November 15, the mayor of Moscow announced that three Moscow schoolchildren had won first place at the international RoboCup championship in Abu Dhabi. A total of 13 students from the capital won prizes or were awarded in nominations.
