Two commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) have been sentenced in absentia to life in prison for an unmanned aerial vehicle attack on a city beach in Kursk, which killed four people. This was announced on December 10 by the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (IC RF) in the Telegram channel.

"The evidence <...> was found by the court to be sufficient to sentence (in absentia) the commanders of the second and third battalions of the 14th separate regiment of unmanned systems of the armed formations of Ukraine, Lieutenant Nikita Zelenko and Captain Dmitry Kolyada, respectively," the statement said.

It is specified that on July 8, while in the Sumy region, they used a drone to attack a beach in Kursk, which led to the death of four people, including a five-year-old child, and the injury of six others.

The court sentenced Zelenko and Kolyada to life imprisonment with serving the first eight years in prison. The militants will spend the rest of their time in a special regime colony.

Earlier, on December 4, a court sentenced three colonels of the armed forces of Ukraine (VFU) to life imprisonment in absentia for attacking Kursk with more than 120 drones in April this year. According to the investigation, they committed the terrorist act on the night of April 15, 2025.
