Ukrainian actor and athlete Ivan Kononenko, known for the TV series "Servant of the People" and who fought on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), died in a special military operation (SVO) zone. This was announced on December 9 by the State Agency of Ukraine for Cinema with reference to the statement of the actor's sister.
"Ukrainian actor and athlete Ivan Kononenko died in the Kursk area, where he had been missing for a long time," the agency's website said.
In addition to his role in "Servant of the People," the actor starred in such projects as "Serfdom," "Watch," "September," and others. He was also an athlete and won a number of competitions, including the Ukraine Open 2006 Olimp Strongman in Kiev.
The series "Servant of the People" was created by Kvartal 95 studio. The main role in it was played by the current President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky. He played history teacher Vasily Goloborodko, who becomes president and promises to fight corruption and nepotism in the country.
