Russia is focused on establishing sustainable peace in the conflict in Ukraine, not on concluding a temporary truce. This was stated on December 10 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the proposal of the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to mutually abandon attacks on energy facilities.

Peskov stressed that the main thing for Russia is to achieve a long—term, guaranteed peace, which will be recorded in relevant international documents. He noted that this is an absolute priority.

On October 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine means forgetting about the decision to eliminate its root causes. According to the minister, attempts at an immediate ceasefire will not lead to a solution to the problem, since this will not eliminate the actual genocide of the Russian and Russian-speaking population, which was carried out by Kiev even before Zelensky came to power.
