Moscow expresses its sincere gratitude to Pyongyang for its allied assistance in liberating the Kursk region from Ukrainian militants. This was stated on December 10 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at the government hour in the Federation Council.
"We are sincerely grateful to our Korean friends for their allied assistance in liberating the Kursk region from Ukrainian militants," the minister said.
According to the Foreign Minister, Russia is developing a strategic partnership with the DPRK, sees great prospects for the development of bilateral relations in various fields and in joint actions within the framework of the United Nations (UN).
Prior to that, on September 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin, taking part in a bilateral meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which took place at the end of a reception on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory over militaristic Japan and the end of World War II, noted the courage of the DPRK military during the liberation of the Kursk region. Putin also asked Kim Jong-un to convey his gratitude to the entire people of the DPRK.
Lavrov, opening talks with North Korean Foreign Minister Choi Song-hee, said on October 27 that Russia would never forget the exploits of North Korean soldiers and officers in the Kursk region. He added that these feats will further strengthen the bonds of friendship and historical community between the Russian Federation and the DPRK in the common struggle for justice.
