Patrushev met with the winners of the first grant competition of the Presidential Nature Foundation

On December 9, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, discussed with the winners of the first grant competition of the Presidential Foundation for Nature the progress of their developments. The meeting was held at the New Tretyakov Gallery at the thematic ecological and educational exhibition "Golden Turtle".

The Presidential Nature Fund was established this year by order of the head of state. Its main task is the implementation of environmental and conservation projects. The total amount of the grant fund amounted to 1 billion rubles. At the selection stage, over 1,600 applications were received from all regions of the country, which became an absolute record for the number of projects ever submitted to contests on this topic.

Since the start, 164 projects have already received support. Among the best are developments on monitoring and cleaning the coasts from marine debris, restoring the population of Przhevalsky horses, projects promoting the development of ecotourism, preserving the biodiversity of Arctic nature in the Paanarvi National Park, the Black Sea dolphin rehabilitation center, and many others.

"I am convinced that your initiatives will make an important contribution to the conservation of biodiversity and the development of all our natural territories. And I am sure that the results of your projects will not only become an example of real concern for nature, but will also contribute to the formation of respect for our nature and our unique riches among citizens, primarily among the younger generation," Patrushev stressed.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the fund accumulate questions from grantees in order to form instructions to federal agencies for working out and providing methodological support for projects.

Patrushev noted in May that effective management of natural resources is important for any country and for every person. He stressed that Russia will continue its development with maximum care for the environment.
