The Russian side notes the United States' interest in cooperation in the Arctic, Vladislav Maslennikov, director of the Department of European Affairs at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on December 10.

"We have heard about the Arctic on a bilateral basis and about the interest in cooperation, too. Not in any specific details, but the Arctic was mentioned in this context," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Earlier, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund and special presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, stressed that cooperation between Russia and the United States in the Arctic region would be mutually beneficial, despite attempts to disrupt it.

Earlier, on December 9, Alexander Moiseev, Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, said that the situation in the Arctic remains difficult due to the actions of the West, with a tendency to worsen. He noted that instead of discussions about cooperation, Russia is increasingly hearing about possible conflicts.
