The investigation of the 2018 contract killing case has been completed in Kuzbass.

The investigative authorities of the Kemerovo region – Kuzbass have completed the investigation of criminal cases of the contract killing of a criminal boss in Novokuznetsk, committed in July 2018. This was reported on December 10 in the Telegram channel of the Investigative Committee of the region.

According to investigators, the customer and organizer of the crime hired a hitman for a reward, who shot a resident of Novokuznetsk in a cafe on Metallurg Avenue on the night of July 27, 2018. The man died on the spot, and the perpetrator fled, leaving disguises on the way. For the crime committed, the killer and the organizer received 1.5 million rubles from the customer.

"Thanks to modern genomic examination capabilities, it was possible to establish the DNA profile of a 52-year-old resident of the Krasnodar Territory using traces left on physical evidence and obtain new significant information about the circumstances of the murder," the Investigative Committee noted.

The perpetrator was detained at his place of residence, taken to Kemerovo and testified about the details of the crime and the persons involved in its organization. Sufficient evidence has been collected in criminal cases, and they have been sent to court with an approved indictment.

The operative was shot dead by renegade former police officers who had been released after serving their sentences.

Earlier, on July 14, investigators had already detained the perpetrator of the murder and resumed the investigation. Then the representative of the Investigative Committee noted that it was not possible to initially identify the person involved. The case remained unsolved for several years.
