Axios reported on Musk's unwillingness to lead DOGE again
American entrepreneur Elon Musk would not like to re-oversee the department for improving the efficiency of the American government (DOGE), although, according to him, the structure has achieved some success. This was announced on December 10 by the Axios portal.
"We were a bit successful," Musk is quoted as saying in the publication.
According to Musk, he will no longer take on this project. DOGE, created under the administration of US President Donald Trump to reduce federal budget spending and optimize the number of civil servants, Musk headed earlier this year.
"We stopped large amounts of financing, which made no sense. It was a complete waste," he added.
According to Musk, for example, from $100 billion to $200 billion a year from budget funds in the United States were spent completely uncontrollably.
Musk left the Trump administration in May after a conflict with the president, but the parties later reconciled. The entrepreneur's comment was a rare public statement about DOGE's work.
Earlier, on November 23, it was reported that DOGE, created in January this year at the initiative of Musk, no longer exists. It is clarified that the functionality of DOGE was partially transferred to the Office of personnel management of the United States.
