The authorities of the Kamchatka Territory, through the court, achieved the preservation of the ban on the sale of alcohol in premises located in residential buildings. This was announced on December 10 by the press service of the Arbitration Court of the region.

Earlier, the regional department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service recognized the actions of the government of Kamchatka as violating the law on protection of competition, considering that the authorities had created "discriminatory conditions" for entrepreneurs. The agency stated that retail outlets in apartment buildings should have been able to operate until the expiration of their licenses.

The court clarified that the government's application was fully satisfied.

"The Arbitration Court of the Kamchatka Territory has satisfied the application of the Government of the Kamchatka Territory and invalidated the decision and order of the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service for the Kamchatka Territory," the press service said.

Earlier, on December 7, it was reported that alcohol consumption in Russia continued to decline for the eighth month in a row and in November dropped to 7.63 liters per capita, a level close to the lows of the late 1990s. The EMISS analysis showed that the decline began in the spring, and the lowest rates are traditionally recorded in the regions of the North Caucasus.
