- Doctor Semchenkov reported on the danger of the absence of snow in winter for the psyche
A snowless and gray winter can negatively affect mental health, causing apathy, fatigue, and decreased mood. This was announced on December 10 by psychiatrist and psychotherapist Alexander Semchenkov in an interview withГазетой.ги ".
"The less sunlight there is, the less serotonin is produced in the body, the hormone of happiness and activity, and more melatonin is produced, the hormone of sleep. As a result, we feel apathetic, get tired faster, and rejoice less," the expert explained.
Semchenkov noted that seasonal melancholy usually goes away in 2-3 weeks, and if apathy, fatigue and anxiety persist longer, you should consult a specialist. For prevention, he recommends proper nutrition, physical activity, light therapy and communication with loved ones.
Earlier, on December 3, it was reported that the ability to withstand stress depends on psychoimmunity — a person's inner resilience to life's difficulties. According to psychologist Irina Fadina, it can be developed through positive rethinking of situations, taking care of physical health and a supportive environment.
