Zelensky was given a few "days" to decide on the US peace plan
Representatives of US President Donald Trump have given Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky just a few days to respond to Washington's proposed peace plan for Ukraine. This was reported on December 9 by the Financial Times newspaper.
According to the newspaper, Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner pressed the Ukrainian leader during a telephone conversation on September 6, seeking a quick response. One of the interlocutors of the publication noted that Trump expects to finalize the deal "by Christmas."
According to the FT, Zelensky told Western partners that he needed to consult with European allies, as Kiev found itself between demands "that it cannot accept and a side that it cannot reject."
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Ukraine was preparing objections to the American peace plan jointly with its European partners. Zelensky stated that the positions have already been worked out and the documents will be sent to the United States, while Kiev does not agree to the withdrawal of troops from the Donetsk region.
