Basketball players of Bryansk "Desna" were disqualified for betting

The Russian Basketball Federation (RFB) has announced the two-year disqualification of Desna players Sergei Zhulkov and Ivan Mokhnarilov for participating in sports betting. This became known on December 9th.

The RFB Commission for the prevention of illegal influence on the results of basketball matches and the fight against it studied information about the bets that athletes made on the Russian Cup games and decided to suspend basketball players for two years — until December 8, 2027, Sport-Express reported.

In the second half of September, the Desna team held three meetings in the qualifying round of the National Cup, ending with one victory and two defeats. In these matches, Zhulkov averaged 10 points, Mokhnarilov 3.

In the regular season of the Major League, Desna is in second place, with 12 wins in 14 games. Zhulkov has averaged 10.5 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 13 games. Mokhnarilov, who played 10 games, averaged 4.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists for the team.
