Putin invited Sokurov to personally discuss possible restrictions.
Russian President Vladimir Putin invited filmmaker Alexander Sokurov to personally discuss any limitations he might encounter in his work. The conversation took place on December 9 during the annual meeting of the Human Rights Council, of which the director is a member.
Putin and Sokurov exchanged greetings, after which the head of state addressed the director.
"We'll call you, I'll call you, we'll talk about how, what is prohibited from your works. This is strange. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you are a member of the Presidential Human Rights Council, so it is obvious that no discrimination against you is allowed, at least at this level," the Russian president noted.
In response, Sokurov conveyed "greetings and good wishes to everyone" from St. Petersburg.
