The State Duma proposed to compensate Russians for spending on rental housing
In Russia, it is necessary to reorient budget money either to create rental housing or to pay compensation for hiring. Svetlana Razvorotneva, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing, said this on Tuesday, December 9.
Razvorotneva stressed that the current tax deduction does not significantly compensate for the costs that citizens incur to buy housing, and is not able to have a decisive impact on the availability of real estate. At the same time, she believes that it is worthwhile to restructure policy in this area in a slightly different way.
"We spend quite a lot of money to support those who can already buy a home through preferential mortgage rates, through tax deductions, but at the same time, for many families, including in large cities, buying an apartment is no longer available at any mortgage rate or with any tax deductions."- the deputy said, adding that budget money should still be redirected either to the creation of rented housing or to compensation payments for hiring.
The parliamentarian clarified that this may be a new type of social support, when, depending on the family's income level, part of the rental rate will be compensated by the state.
"In this way, we will provide a roof over the heads of 2 million families who are currently waiting in line for improvement: people living in emergency homes, people in crisis situations. It seems to me that this would be a more correct direction of movement," the politician concluded.
At the moment, the maximum amount of property tax deduction is 2 million rubles for the purchase of an apartment or housing construction and 3 million rubles for mortgage interest, IA Regnum reports. Thus, with a personal income tax rate of 13%, you can receive a tax refund in the amount of 260 thousand rubles for the purchase of housing and 390 thousand rubles for mortgage interest.
On December 7, State Duma deputies from the LDPR faction submitted to the government for conclusion a bill that proposes to introduce a social tax deduction for families with children under three years of age for the purchase of children's goods.
