The ice formation on the Irtysh River in the Omsk region was established much later than expected. The reason was the abnormal warming in November.

According to the Ob-Irtysh UGMS, the current ice formation has become the latest in a hundred years of observations. The previous record, December 7— was recorded in 2013. OmskMedia news agency writes about this.

Forecasters note that the formation of ice was hampered by warming in November and a moderate temperature regime in the first days of winter. At the same time, experts are observing a drop in the water level in the Irtysh, which has dropped by 30 cm.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds that the ice is still too thin, and it is dangerous to go out on it.

The first ice crossing was opened in the Krasnoyarsk Territory on December 8. It runs along the Igarskaya Bayou in the city of Igarka.
