Seismologists have registered an earthquake near Lake Baikal in Buryatia. Its magnitude was 3.

According to the UlanMedia news agency, the epicenter was located 16.3 km northwest of the village of Turka. There is no information about the destruction.

A powerful earthquake struck off the northern coast of Japan on December 8. It led to a horizontal displacement of the earth's crust in the epicenter area by about 9 cm. A tsunami 40 cm high was recorded in the north-east of the country.
