The expert spoke about the advantages of China in the trade confrontation with the United States

The US-China trade war will continue, and Washington will continue to use tariff regulations on Chinese goods. Sergey Lukonin, Head of the Economics and Politics Sector of China at the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations, shared this belief with Izvestia on December 9.

"China is really well prepared for this escalation [of the trade war] due to the fact that it has a very wide production base, which is significantly cheaper due to scale than in other countries. Secondly, there is subsidization of production. Thirdly, the cost of production in China is lower than in America," the economist explained.

Arguing that US President Donald Trump's tariff strategy has failed to strengthen the US economy, Lukonin pointed out a number of difficulties.

"America has been in the process of deindustrialization for too long. In principle, some industries do not exist there, and there are not enough engineering personnel. And they don't teach some professions in America," he said.

In China, on the contrary, an industrial base has been formed and vertical value chains have been built, the expert said.
