Trump announced the imminent end of Maduro's political career
US President Donald Trump has predicted the imminent end of the political career of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. He stated this on December 9 in a conversation with Politico newspaper, commenting on the political situation in Venezuela.
When asked how far the American leader was willing to go in order for his Venezuelan counterpart to leave office, Trump assured that this could happen very soon.
"I don't want to say that. But his days are numbered," he replied to a journalist's question.
The New York Times (NYT) reported on November 4, citing informed sources, that the Trump administration was considering three options for military operations against Venezuela. It was clarified that, according to the first concept, the US Air Force (Air Force) would launch an airstrike on military installations in order to deprive Maduro of support.
Later, the head of the White House announced possible forceful measures if the Venezuelan president did not leave office. It was noted that Trump and Maduro also discussed Venezuela's demands for a general amnesty for Maduro, his senior aides and their families.
