The first frosts in December were recorded in Moscow last night. Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the Phobos Weather center, announced this in his Telegram channel on Tuesday, December 9.
"According to the city's base weather station, VDNKh, the minimum was -0.3 degrees. At other weather stations in the megacity, it was from -0.1 degrees in Baltschug to -1.2 degrees in Butovo," the Moscow City News agency quoted the forecaster as saying.
He noted that negative temperatures were observed throughout the Moscow region, and Kashira became the coldest point in the region, where the minimum temperature was -2.1 degrees.
According to the meteorologist, frosts are expected again next night — in Moscow it will be 0... -2 degrees, in the region 0... -3 degrees. At the same time, the temperature will remain positive on Friday night.
"Saturday will be marked by more severe frosts, and the night temperature will drop to the December norm for the first time since the beginning of the month, and on Sunday it is even expected to be slightly below it," the forecaster concluded.
The day before, Alexander Shuvalov, head of the Meteo forecasting center, told RT that warming is expected in Moscow in the coming days, and snow should not be expected yet.
In turn, Anatoly Tsygankov, head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Service's crisis management department, told Izvestia that changeable weather with noticeable temperature fluctuations is expected in Moscow this week. The temperature background will generally remain above the climatic norm and will correspond to the November figures, but the weather will be unstable.
