The State Duma proposes to ban taxi cars from parking in courtyards for a long time. An appeal with a corresponding proposal was sent to the head of the Ministry of Transport Andrey Nikitin, RIA Novosti reported on December 9.

The document, sent by State Duma Deputy Speaker Vladislav Davankov (New People), as well as State Duma deputies Sardana Avksentieva and Yaroslav Samylin, suggests considering the possibility of introducing at the federal level a ban on parking (long-term parking) cars included in the register of passenger taxis in residential areas and courtyards.

An exception can only be made for a short-term stop for the purpose of boarding and disembarking passengers or loading luggage.

The authors of the appeal note that the current traffic rules contain restrictions on parking in residential areas for trucks and buses, but do not apply to passenger taxis. Because of this, the adjacent territories of apartment buildings actually turn into free parking for taxi cars.

Earlier, the association of the National Taxi Council (NST) said that next year two thirds (66%) of Russian taxi companies do not plan to upgrade their cars due to the difficult economic situation, due to the new requirements of the localization law. The main reasons given by the survey participants were the low payback of cars, the high cost of Russian cars and the unwillingness of passengers to drive them.
