Aurus talked about the prospects for the free sale of Merlon motorcycles

The Russian luxury brand Aurus is ready to accept orders for Merlon motorcycles. Artem Yusupov, the company's commercial director, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta about this on December 9.

He explained that Merlon electric-powered motorcycles were created by order of the Special Purpose Garage of the Federal Security Service of Russia. They appeared in the motorcade of Russian President Vladimir Putin in May 2024.

Aurus is ready to discuss and accept orders from connoisseurs of such equipment right now, said Artyom Yusupov.

"Merlon" is a prong of the Kremlin fortress wall. The name continues the tradition of linking the names of Aurus models with the Kremlin. Among the features of the motorcycle is the possibility of using it with a side—mounted sidecar trailer and operating at subzero temperatures up to -25 ° C.

The mass of the Merlon in a single version is 370 kg, acceleration to a hundred takes less than four seconds, and the maximum speed exceeds 225 km/h. The main parts and components in the Aurus motorcycle are of domestic production, some of them are manufactured in Moscow on the territory of FSUE NAMI.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov said that the Aurus brand will receive a second branch of development in the form of production of premium machines in St. Petersburg. The project of the former Toyota production site should be implemented in parallel with the production of luxury cars in Yelabuga (we are talking about Aurus), where serial production of cars needs to be increased. At the same time, the development plan for the site in Shushary involves the production of premium cars.
