Experts reported on Russians' spending on New Year's gifts
Preparations for the New Year in Russia start earlier every year: many cities, including Moscow, have been decorated with Christmas trees, garlands and festive installations since mid-November. During the New Year period, online trading and demand for delivery of goods across the country are traditionally growing. Representatives of the market told about it on November 9. "Газете.Ru ".
"One of the trends this year is the earlier purchase of gifts than in previous years," the YUKASSA press service noted.
It is noted that from November 1 to November 21, the turnover of online stores increased by 9% compared to the same period last year, and the number of payments in the Gifts and Souvenirs category increased by 8%. Skif-Cargo transport company confirms that the main wave of orders occurred during the November sales, and the growth of parcels and orders in e-com amounted to about 5-7% compared to last year's level.
According to Sales Director Yuri Korobeynikov, inflation and rational consumption smooth out the December rush. At the same time, road transport increased by only 2-6%.
Toys, souvenirs, and groceries remain the most popular items, and in 2024, lamps and Christmas lights were especially in demand. The Business Lines company also noted an increase in the transportation of small—sized goods — up to 30 kg and a volume of up to 0.1 cubic meters - by 5% compared to October-November last year. The main flow of small-sized shipments occurred in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk.
Earlier in the day, analysts who conducted market research told Izvestia that December traditionally remains the busiest month of the year for the sparkling wine market. The demand for this drink is steadily growing by almost half compared to other periods, and in 2025, according to the estimates of the Rosselkhoznadzor, the dynamics may be even more noticeable. Sales in November-December will increase by 1.75 times compared to the previous months.
